Avi Farber

Traveling across the American West to fight wildfires requires Avi and his elite crew to live for weeks at a time in a volatile environment. Photography allows him to document his experiences along the way. And through sheer strength and endurance he is able to persevere, day after day, in one of the most dangerous jobs in the world.

“It's hard to push yourself even faster, but you do it because you want to be at the front of the line.”

"Imagine being in a burning forest controlling a volatile situation. Mentally it’s an internal battle, a mix of fear and adrenaline. Physically it’s extremely demanding. It requires a very high cardiovascular level and endurance."
